Cast partial dentures
A cast partial denture is a removable appliance on a metal framework that distributes chewing forces evenly between the gums and the supporting teeth. Compared with an acrylic denture, it is stronger, thinner and more stable. It is used for partial tooth replacement when there are healthy supporting teeth on both sides of the gap.
About the treatment
A cast partial denture (in Ukraine called a “bugel” denture, from the German Bügel, “arch”) is a removable appliance on a cast metal framework. The framework distributes chewing forces evenly between the supporting teeth, via clasps (metal hooks), and the oral mucosa. Compared with an acrylic denture, it is thinner, stronger and more stable when you chew.
It is indicated for bounded gaps in the dental arch (with supporting teeth on both sides of the gap), when there are enough stable supporting teeth, for acrylic intolerance, and for patients who want a longer-lasting, more comfortable denture.
Benefits of cast partial dentures at Dent Aura
The metal framework handles chewing forces much better.
It takes up less space in the mouth, so your tongue gets used to it faster.
The load is shared between the clasps on the teeth and the mucosa — less pressure on the gums.
How the procedure works
We assess the supporting teeth, periodontal tissues and mucosa.
Reshaping and adjustments are often needed so the clasps sit securely.
Two-phase silicone impressions for an accurately made framework.
The metal framework is checked on its own, before the acrylic and teeth are added.
A wax try-in to agree on the shape and shade.
Bite adjustment and a check of stability and comfort.

Frequently asked questions
It is thinner, more stable when chewing, puts less load on the mucosa and lasts longer (5–8 years vs 3–5 for acrylic). But it costs more and is more complex to make.
The metal clasps may be visible on the neighboring teeth. There are clasp-free options with precision attachments, but they cost more and require preparing the supporting teeth.
2–3 weeks — longer than an acrylic denture because of the more complex lab process (casting the framework).
If back teeth are missing on both sides (a bilateral free-end gap), a standard cast partial denture is not possible. You will need either an acrylic denture or implants for support.
