About the treatment
An acrylic denture is a removable appliance made of rigid pink acrylic resin (mimicking the gums) with plastic or metal teeth. It rests on the oral mucosa and, in partial dentures, also on the neighboring teeth via metal clasps. It is the oldest and most affordable form of removable denture.
Despite the arrival of newer materials (nylon, cast frameworks), the acrylic denture remains relevant: it is easy to repair, easy to modify when the bite changes or teeth need to be added, and it is the most affordable option. For patients on a limited budget, or as a temporary solution before implants, it is the right choice.
