Damon Q braces
Damon Q is a self-ligating braces system. Unlike traditional braces, the archwire is held not by elastic bands but by a sliding door built into the bracket itself. This reduces friction, lets the teeth move more naturally and makes adjustments fewer and less painful.
About the treatment
Damon Q is a self-ligating braces system made by the American company Ormco. The main difference from traditional braces is that, instead of elastic ligatures (bands) that press the archwire against the bracket, it has a sliding metal clip. The clip holds the archwire but lets it slide freely, so friction is minimal and the teeth move more naturally.
This means less discomfort between adjustments, fewer visits to the orthodontist and the ability to use lighter archwires, which is especially helpful in the early stages of treatment.
Benefits of Damon Q at Dent Aura
The sliding clip reduces friction, so teeth move more gently.
Adjustments every 8–12 weeks instead of the usual 4–6.
Damon is a system designed for severe bite problems with significant crowding.
The self-ligating system lasts the whole course without replacement, and there are no elastics to change.
How the treatment works
Photos, periapical X-rays and possibly a CT scan, so the orthodontist can map out every tooth movement in detail.
The brackets are bonded to the teeth with a special adhesive. The procedure takes 60–90 minutes.
A light, heat-activated archwire puts minimal pressure on the teeth in the early stage.
As the teeth straighten, the orthodontist switches to stiffer archwires. Visits are less frequent than with traditional braces.
Fine-tuning of tooth position and the bite.
The adhesive is removed and the teeth are polished.
Bonded or removable, to keep the result.

Technically, yes, but that means an unfinished result. We recommend completing the full course until the teeth are stable in their new position.
